Greetings!

I am László, the founder of the Captain Palmer online store. Below, I will tell you what this online shop is about, how it came to be, and who exactly is Captain Palmer?

The foundation of this webshop was determined by two important factors: 1.) that I am a historian 2.) and I’m the managing editor of an online history magazine. As a result, I spent a lot of time thinking about how I could combine these two areas of expertise to create something unique, special and original. Finally, in early 2024, the idea began to take shape that creating a webshop built around an exciting story, based on history, but fictional, would be the most fitting approach.

But what should be the story behind the webshop?

Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by travel, discovering the world, and different cultures – in fact, this is why I became a historian – so I was incredibly interested in the life stories of explorers. As a historian, I wrote many articles about famous 19th-century explorers. This gave me the idea to build the online store around the character of an explorer I invented. And so Captain Palmer was born!

So far so good, but what products would match Captain Palmer’s character and the webshop’s theme?

This is where my wonderful wife, Emőke, enters the picture. She is an artist, so this led me to the idea: what if we were to paint about Captain Palmer’s expeditions? In other words, where he traveled and what he saw. Emőke loved the idea and immediately began working on it. So we run this webshop together. Emőke creates the unique, premium quality paintings, while I manage the website and our business.
