Mystic Mountain - Captain Palmer

Captain Palmer's 1896 journey to Japan brought him face to face with one of nature's most magnificent sights. "The mountain rises with such perfect symmetry that it appears almost otherworldly," he recorded in his journal for the Royal Geographical Society. His sketches captured the majestic summit crowned with snow, set against the fading colors of dusk. In the foreground, a solitary tree framed his view, its branches reaching toward the peak as if in reverence. Palmer noted how the Japanese landscape possessed a serene beauty unlike anything he had encountered across continents. This memorable scene from Palmer's encounter with the Mystic Mountain has been transformed into a hand-painted artwork on a wooden jewelry box by Emőke.
